Oasis and Giffords Circus fundraising

Oasis Specialist Tent Hire, along with Giffords Circus, provided tentage for a wonderful event on the last day of September at Eyford House, the home of Mrs Charlotte Heber-Percy, who kindly hosted a charity lunch for for Canine Partners. They are a charity which provides and trains Assistance Dogs for the severely disabled.

We watched an extraordinary display of the dogs’ skills on a mild and mellow afternoon in a truly wonderful Cotswold setting: the dogs picked up and returned dropped keys and mobile phones, opened and closed doors and even opened and filled a washing machine from the laundry basket!

50' wide beautiful linings

Oasis has moved up a gear but have been so bsy with the September peak that we haven't had a chance to announce that on the August Bank Holiday weekend we completed our first 50’ wide marquee lining job.

The beautiful interior was created for an Indian and Jewish wedding for 400-450 people. We're waiting for some photos from one of the photographers who were there, but in the meantime here's a taster - tables as far as the eye can see!

Iran unveils vast handmade carpet

I am not sure that this will fit in any tent I know of…

The carpet was woven with cotton and wool from both Iran and New Zealand

Iran has unveiled what it says is the world's largest handmade carpet, a vast green and red floor covering that is larger than a football pitch. More here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/6924647.stm

Come Rain, hail or shine, everyone WILL enjoy my Arabian birthday - Oasis in London Lite

A client pointed out we had been in London Lite magazine the other day - thanks to him, and Rebecca Howard:
Rebecca writes:
"So MY big birthday garden party is only days away and whatever the weather we'll be braving the great outdoors. I have spent a fortune transforming our backyard into a mini Marrakech and even if its chucking it down with rain, I'm determined everyone will appreciate my selection of floor cushions and the thousands of tea lights I intend to scatter around the place. Never one to take a party lightly, I've been scouring the streets of London for the past month looking for knick-knacks to create the perfect North African vibe in NW3. I started with a beautiful Bedouin number from oasistents.co.uk for £565. It's decking out the garden to resemble an oasis, complete with palm trees and Arabian-style soft furnishings..."

Flapjack magazine

If you read it we're in flapjackmag.com - a great piece of local PR…

In a nutshell, Flapjack is a 40 page, full colour quarterly magazine going out to 20,000 families in southwest London (SW4, 11, 12, 17 and 18) through schools and nurseries, selected door drops (between the commons, the ‘toastrack’ and Telford Park) and local shops, libraries, etc.

It’s a stylish magazine with good editorial aimed at parents of 3 – 13 yr olds.

Oasis helps Momo's Moroccan restaurant celebrate 10 years

One of the highlights of 2007 so far has been our involvement in Momo’s 10th birthday party earlier this May… here are a few snaps of the tent we furnished on Heddon Street for the Moroccan restaurant’s Sunday birthday party. Almost 1000 people descended on the London venue:

The season has started

We’re busier than ever this summer, and the season has started with this amazing party - built over a swimming pool in Nottinghamshire.
Here are some pictures of the event interior we created; we dressed the interior for this 40’ x 80’ marquee – Persian carpets, linings, lighting, furniture, greenery, props etc.

We used some our new banqueting seating – it provides something a little bit different for clients who want a formal dining experience but at a level lower than usual. Here are some pictures... from concept to reality:

Hard times for ex-camel riders

From: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/07/images/050715_robot_jockey.jpg
In the Persian Gulf, a 2005 ban on underage jockeys in the popular sport of camel racing has left hundreds of young immigrant boys struggling to repatriate. Meanwhile, some states have turned to robots to replace the diminutive riders.

Winter wonderland

We had 'fun' in nearly a foot of snow in Birmingham the other day!
Still... we were able to transform and made the very white marquee into something cosy for this winter wedding for 250 people!

Oasis Specialist Tent Hire: new logo and brochure leaflet

We’re pleased to launch our new logo:

It was created by designer John Alderson, who’s worked for the London Underground design team, Virgin Atlantic, and the RNLI to name but a few.

It’s elegant, slightly more modern than our previous logo, whilst retaining a hint of the Orient.

John has also helped us design Oasis’s new brochure.

This is not a sales communication as such; it is image-rich and copy-light the idea being to use tried and trusted images to inspire; text to give just enough information to “understand” what we do; and finally to intrigue the client to pick up the phone or find out more via the website.

So far it seems to have worked rather well!
